Indian
Living Room
A “classical” Indian Living room (left) would be full of color, framed art, mirrors, ornate chandelier, soft and nicely cushioned seats, center / side tables made out of wood + metal or glass, lamps made out of metal / other jaali work and hand knotted rugs.
While the “contemporary” Indian living room (right) is differentiated by using limowash on walls, polished marble floors, architectural lights and modern décor pieces.
Bedroom
The image on the left has high ceilings, ornate pillars, arches, detailed cornices, four poster bed in carved wood, and luxurious drapes & bedding.
Whereas the the image on the right mixes traditional Indian floral curtains, ¦ vibrant cushions, hand knotted carpet & grilled windows with contemporary Kota tiled floor and simple use of wood + downlighters to highlight prints on wall. Take your pick!
Bathroom
In the Left side image the Wooden Jaali, Lights, basket and Sanitary fittings are classical Indian and combined beautifully with linear tiles on wall, beautiful marble design on floor and a modern WC.
In the Right side Image the beautiful bronze tiled wall, mirror, and countertop vase are the classical elements, nicely juxtaposed with a rustic counter & modern basin and LED lighting.
Kitchen
Modular kitchens are mostly same world over. The Indian-ness in a kitchen is infused by use of colorful tiles on floor and wall, and explicit use of wood in cabinetry and/or door (as seen in left side image).
We have shared a part of another Indian kitchen on the right – as the standalone cubbyholes for Daals & Spices was a cool retro touch.
Accent
In the image on left, a beautiful Jhoola in a lounge overlooks the lush green outdoors. The grey plain flooring is broken with intricate pebbled pattern. The slim modern glass glazing terminates seamlessly in the wood cladded ceiling.
The image on the right showcases a waterbody adorned by beautiful classical taps & chains and an elephant finished in metal sitting on the counter to the left side. Creativity unleashed!
