Retro
Living room
The living room on the left is more an understated interpterion of retro design. The walls panelling, paint, flooring and carpet make for a modern canvas, which is adorned in bold orange, shades of blue and a colorful wall art.
Compared to this the design on the right celebrates the bold colors and textures unabashedly. The White ceiling & Windows make for a nice backdrop to the vibrant blue sofas, colorful cushions, a geometric carpet, bold wallpaper and mirror on the wall.
Bedroom
The muted and earthy colors on walls as well as wall art infuse masculinity in the environment. The bold retro touch is provided by the striking tapestry as bed cover. The wicker chair and the basket in front of bed takes you back to 50s and 60s.
The bedroom design on the right however does not hold it back! Ranging from dusky pink curtains, a striking blue headboard, yellow bedcover, colourful cushions and a geometric black and white carpet – all scream of retro taking you back to the 70s.
Bathroom
British designer Luke Edward Hall designed this left bathroom for a Parisian hotel featuring geometric patterns, bright colors and very 70s styled fixtures.
Whereas the bathroom on the right – blends retro with contemporary styling effortlessly. Whilst there is use of bold colors and geometric patterns, the WC, Basin, Mirror, Lights and the sanitary fittings are contemporary.
Kitchen
Retro looking but technically efficient kitchen appliances have made a comeback for the young and eclectic. The design on the left is a gorgeous kitchen that mixes vintage tiles, contemporary – cabinet, sink and fittings, incandescent lights and a stand- out tangerine SMEG fridge.
Design on the right showcases vintage styled Big Chill high tech appliances – Oven, Microwave and Chimney. This kitchen is inconspicuously high on functionality and luxury quotient.
Accent
Retro accents are unmistakable!
They transport you back to 50s, 60, 70s. The limited collection on the lefthand side clearly highlights design aesthetic of the past with technological upgrades of the present.
For instance, SMEG is a well-known brand churning out gorgeous kitcen appliances. The bathtub, Switch, Dining table shown are harder to source in India but not impossible. Tiles, bedding and art can be more easily procured.
